Little Miss

Mother's Day Jamie planned a picnic for us in the park by the arch. It was a beautiful day and we had a wonderful time doing bubbles and feeding the geese. Lainey wasn't so sure about this at first, but was chasing them by the time we were finished.
We have been teaching Lainey about feelings by having her make faces that express various emotions. So far she has mastered a silly, happy, sad, mad and a smart face (pictured above). It's pretty cute but the sad face will melt your heart...complete with the big blue eyes and pouty lip.
We love our neighborhood because it is so family friendly. At any given moment there are kids playing kick ball in the cul-de-sac, riding bikes, or playing tag. Lainey loves playing with them and would spend every waking moment out in the front yard if it were possible. This day we did sidewalk chalk and bubbles. So much fun.

A Week to Celebrate the Graduate

Lainey and I spent a week in Excelsior Springs to be a part of Seth's graduation festivities. What a week it was! An open house, district baseball tournament, honors ceremony, baseball senior night, graduation, and somewhere tucked in was my dad's birthday and mother's day. I thought a toddler's life was hectic!
Seth was selected to receive a private scholarship in memory of Darren Couts. It is specifically given to someone planning to study athletic training. This picture is with Mr. Couts and Matt St. John who also received the scholarship. Seth came straight from his game, in case you are wondering why he's so dressed up : )

Such a cute couple
I'm about to sound really old but...I remember taking this exact same picture before Chad's senior prom. Seth was running around like a little wild man and refused to get in the picture with us! It's crazy how fast time flies. I know someone will tell me now that I'll be posing with Lainey before I know it. Ughhh. I'm not ready to hear that. We'll stick to our fun toddler moments for now.
32 years of raising kids...what will my parents do when August comes? A new chapter begins, and I expect great things. Such amazing people.
