Home Sweet Home

I apologize for not updating everyone recently. The days and hours pass so quickly. The family and I came home on Tuesday afternoon. Lainey received a good report on Tuesday and we made the trip from the hospital to the homestead. Everything is going exceptionally well, minus the little sleep that Nikki and I are getting. Nevertheless, it is good to be home and sleep in our own bed and begin to regain some sort of normalcy in our lives. Knowing that "normal" will now take on a whole different meaning. Lainey is doing so good with feeding and sleeping. She has got to be the most beautiful girl in the world, next to Nikki of course. On Thursday we had our first doctors visit and everything again, checked out well. Thank you for everyone's prayers and support and our little Lainey will be excited to meet all of you in person soon.

Free at Last, Free at Last, Thank God Almighty she's Free at Last!

Breaking News.... At 1:00pm Lainey ventured out of the dark, warm ICU Nursery into her Mommy and Daddy's room. They finally weaned her off the IV drip and is spending her time with us. We are getting adjusted to her cries and cute little sounds. She is doing extremely well, nursing well, sleeping well and we are hoping for a good report tomorrow morning from her doctor. Still no indication of when we might be taking that large step in packing up the car and heading home, but we are hoping for Tuesday. Nikki and I are so relieved to finally have her in our care. Definitely an Easter to remember. Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Sunday and we hope to see more of everyone when we get home. Thank you again for every one's prayers and support.

Lainey Update

Our bundle of joy continues show signs of improvement. She continued the IV today but is gradually coming off of it while she continues to nurse better each time. The doctor today, seemed to think that she would continue the antibiotics until at least Monday. Then they will re-evaluate and go from there. Today we were able to see more of her personality and she is quite the princess. She spent a good portion of time today in her mother's arms, and to say she was very content is an understatement. They released Nikki today, but we are able to stay in our room indefinitely and remain as close to Lainey as possible. We appreciate all of your prayers and support, but continue to pray that she will continue to gain strength and that we can make it home soon. Hope everyone has a Blessed and Happy Easter. May we never lose sight of our God who conquered the grave.

Although my job has been more of a support role thus far I had my first "burping experience" (no babies were harmed during this photograph)

T'was the Day After Her Birthday....

Little Lainey is having a tough go at it. Test results today show she has an infection and in order to combat the infection they moved her to an intensive care part of the nursery. She is hooked up to an IV and is receiving antibiotics every twelve hours. How cruel is that to limit Lainey's mobility with her momma and daddy. However, after a long day today, the nurses seem to think she is gaining strength and getting back to normal. Nikki is doing well, tired, exhausted, and anxious, but well. Here are some more pictures to wet everyone's baby appetite. Myself..... well I am darn right proud of my two girls!

Our Little Lainey

Alas! Precious little Lainey is finally here. She entered the world at 10:37pm on Thursday, April 5. She is a beautiful 8lbs and 11 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. She has dark hair, not a lot, but covers her little nogin. Like a lot of babies she's had a difficult time adjusting to her new world, but all should be well. Here are a few pictures I was able to sneak. Hope to see all you soon. Trust me there will be more pictures coming. It's late, Nikki endured a marathon, and we are waiting to hear some test results. Check back tomorrow for sure.
