We have a Reader

I am really enjoying this season with Lainey in her learning.  She is so excited that she is able to read these books.  I saw them in her scholastic book order and decided they would be worth a try to help continue the process of learning to read.  Such a big girl.

Princess for a Day

Lainey and I went to a princess birthday party yesterday where the moms were encouraged to dress up with their daughter.  I was nervous to bust out my wedding dress because I wasn't sure it would zip!  I tried it on yesterday morning and though it doesn't fit quite the same (a small understatement) it did zip...insert happy dance here : )
The picture above is with two of my good friends, Keri and Amy.  The one below is with the prettiest princess at the party.
I really thought about wearing something else, but my girly girl thought her mommy was the coolest...so it was worth not being able to breathe for a couple of hours.

The Makings of a Beautiful Friendship

Today is one of those blah days in our house.  Lainey is sick with a fairly high fever and has just fallen asleep.  Cooper is napping and Jamie is busy with church activities.  I decided to go through my pictures and these made me smile so I thought a blog post was the perfect way to spend a  few quiet minutes.

As Cooper gets older, one of the most fun things has been to watch his friendship with Lainey form.  They actually play together now.  They chase each other and wrestle around and fall down laughing.  They build creations out of blocks until Cooper decides to knock it down.  The first time he knocked down one of Lainey's creations I was worried she would get mad but she just laughed and built another one.  She is patient with him (as long as his activity does not include pulling her hair!)  He adores her and tries to imitate the things she does...occasionally trying on her princess glass slippers...don't worry Jamie, the boy would choose a basketball or football over anything : )

I tell them at least once a day that they are each other's best friends and I look forward to watching that bond grow over the years.  Such sweet friends.

Cooper is a growing boy.  We had his 18 month checkup not too long ago and he is in the 99th percentile for his height and 98 percentile for his weight.  My little linebacker!

Look at these expressions.  I think they both look so much like their daddy.

Hopefully Cooper won't read this any time soon, but the way Lainey is squeezing his face in this picture reminds me of Chunk from the movie Goonies!
They were watching Mary Poppins and jumped up to dance with the penguins.  Such funny little personalities.
